Native Birds Teachers Resource
ISBN: 9780478093285
Publisher: Manaaki Whenua Press
The Native Birds Teacher’s Resource is an integrated approach to the study of native birds. It includes four A3 size laminated colour photographs of native New Zealand birds: the Pukeko; the Tui; the Fantail and the Great Spotted Kiwi.
The reverse side of each photo includes the Maori, English and scientific names, a number of points which can be used to generate class discussions, plus a diagram covering special adaptation features.
Included in the set are six double-sided copymaster tasksheets. These are designed to be used as a basis for class activities and include tasks that are suitable for individuals or groups. The kit is aimed at mid to senior primary school classes. Its main focus is science but an integration guide is provided so the kit can be used across many other subject areas such as language, social studies and maths.
A3 plus A4 activity sheets.
