Everyone has demons. Few people admit to them, let alone conquer them. Because one person succumbed to his, a handsome young farmer, Scott Guy, was cut down in the prime of life in the driveway of his Feilding home on July 8, 2010. The tragedy held New Zealand spell bound - particularly the arrest and murder trial of Scott’s brother-in-law, Ewen MacDonald; the exposure of intimate details of the Guy family’s lives; and the dignity with which its patriarch, Bryan, conducted himself throughout.
Scott Guy is Bryan and Jo Guy’s story. It reveals much more than came out at the murder trial; it gives a uniquely intimate view of how the murder affected them, their family and friends. It discloses previously unknown details of what went on behind the scenes. It reveals how the Guys overcame their own personal demons, how they mined inner strength to cope with the stress, grief, fear and the heartbreak of not only the violent death of a cherished son, but of a series of personal catastrophes which followed.
They share their unique story in the hope of helping others struggling with the vagaries of life. This, they believe, may give meaning to the apparent senselessness of all that has happened within their family.

NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER.

SCOTT GUY: His Parents' Story of Love, Betrayal, Murder and Courage, reaches number 1 in the Nielsen Weekly Bestsellers List* and selling out fast.

The Cockerel:
A noisy little cockerel
Would sing at break of day:
Dogs would bark, kids would cry
From bloody miles away.
Folk signed a petition
To say it wasn’t proper;
The cockerel said “Hey get a life!
I’m Bantam of the Opera”.
A collection of “Nice and Naughty” rhymes each illustrated with Garrick Tremain’s colourful characters.

“A fascinating journey through the nether regions” - Eric Newby
“Mr Tremain is very funny, but awfully untidy” - Mrs Tremain

About the Author:
For 20 of the past 25 years Garrick Tremain has been New Zealand's most widely published editorial cartoonist. He has enjoyed an avid daily readership in many regions of the country, most fervently in Otago, Canterbury and Nelson. This as an adjunct to his work as a successful landscape painter.
In recent years he has written and illustrated two books of comic verse. In 2005 he set out to write a book of nursery rhymes for children but could not resist putting a risque slant on most verses. Hence he titled it "NURSERY RHYMES MOTHER NEVER READ YOU". It quickly achieved Gold and Platinum status. Now in it's 6th edition it has sold over 15,000 copies.

While the world suffered the great depression in the thirties, one aspect of society was booming. Track and Field had become hugely popular and milers above all. This meticulously researched book by New Zealand journalist Lynn McConnell charts the period between the Los Angeles Olympics in 1932 and the infamous Nazi Games of Berlin four years later. The main characters were New Zealander Jack Lovelock (although he was claimed by Great Britain as well). The son of immigrants Lovelock was born in New Zealand but following his studies at Oxford he returned only once to the land of his birth, preferring to remain in England. The US provided the extrovert Glenn Cunningham, the eccentric Bill Bonthron and the unlucky Gene Venzke. Then there was Italian Luigi Beccal, the 1932 Olympic 1500m champion, two British runners, Jerry Cornes and Sydney Wooderson, and Phil Edwards of Canada. Their rivalry took interest in athletics to new heights in the USA as well as fascinating the rest of the world. The four years provided exciting racing culminating in one of the great Olympic 1500 metres final won by Lovelock in a world record.
